Swamp Mermaid

a skein of blue green yarn

I randomly decided to dye another skein this week and have a go at trying to dye something that had three colors on it. I definitely didn’t achieve anything close to what I was going for. But it’s a very pretty skein regardless and I did manage to get two distinct colors onto a skein.

I used Bright Aqua for half the skein and then the other half I tried to split between Pistachio and Golden Straw. They kind of combined together and with the aqua into this swamp green color. The whole skein reminds me of a mermaids tail.

One of my unofficial New Years Resolutions this year is to save money on yarn by trying to dye more of my own instead of buying from indie dyers. I discovered them midway through last year and just lost my mind buying ALL THE YARN. I need to reign it in and buying undyed yarn is about 1/3 the cost of buying indie dyed yarn. I’ve also ordered a powder scale off finally, along with some dropper bottles and some S hooks to try out some different dyeing techniques and hone my skills
